  I've always told myself I'd workout.. someday. lol I love this video. I loved watching the part of you working out! I always had a secret crush on karate, and watching you do some cool kicks got me intrigued to perhaps want to buy one of those work out videos! ;0) You actually made it look like fun.   I need an outfit! I go through phases of working out. Right now I've decided to eat better by not drinking pepsi, and I've actually lost 8 pounds! I drink herbal tea now. I do have those cheat days though, and now it's diet pepsi.. For workouts, I used to do P90x, but it is really hard for beginners.. and I've heard of insanity- from my friends who do p90x. So I guess I'll look into that! What makes me sad is that I didn't realize I was the skinny girl until I started having babies. I haven't been able to get the weight off for 3 years.. Wish me luck!

  I set a goal and make a plan. I like to run and my 2012 goal is to run 12 races this year - one per month. My short term goal is a 1/2 marathon (my 5th) on Sunday!
  
  Running is awesome because it costs as much as the cheapest pair of sneakers you can find and you can do it alone, with a husband, with a wife, with a dog, with a cat (if you like carrying cats...) If you're just starting out, I recommend a google search for "couch to 5k" programs that get you up and walking and before you know it, you're crossing the finish line of your first race! Also dailymile.com is a fun excercise community where you can journal your activity and root on (and get rooted on) by others. win/win! Get out and mooooove it.

  Mayi! You are the best....seriously. Okay, GREAT idea for writing it down on a board for that day. I, too, know that when I write things down, they happen. I am oh too familiar with getting lost in the atmosphere.....and then....ZAP!....It's 6pm already? How did that happen??? I use a dry erase board for my meal planning, so why can't I do it for exercise??? AWESOME! Thanks for sharing your last tip (its the only one I hadn't already done)!

  I put my workout clothes out on the bathroom counter the night before. I have loud upbeat music on my ipod. I prefer walking outside but I will workout in the gym if the weather's ugly.
  
  My best secret, I have a hula hoop for days when I'm crunched for time. I can hoop for 30 minutes while listening to conference calls (on mute, of course).

  Kim: I hear ya'. I used to dance so the though of exercising gym style always creeped me out. I played A LOT + experimented even more. I suggest finding your zone in terms of moving your body. It could even be cleaning the house or belly dance classes. It's out there we just have to look :)

  Lisa: GOOD LUCK :) I also go through phases. Right now I'm in the exercise zone but other times I really drag my feet + compulsively eat cupcakes. It's the Libra in me hehehe. I can't even imagine how much my body will change when I have a baby. Wish me luck too when the time comes :)

  Just get out and move anything you can!!! I was 325lbs. I'm 110 now and I am a personal trainer (I keep my training up, but I don't do it anymore). So here are my tips.
  
  1. Stand up every time you feel tired and frustated and move your booty. Close your drapes if you want, and just play music that makes you want to dance.
  
  2. Make it a DAILY habit. Yes, it sometimes sucks rocks, but if you make it a daily habit, you will feel guitly when you don't.
  
  3. If you cheat, who cares?? Don't starve yourself to make it up. Just get back onboard tomorrow.
  
  4. This sucks too. People who weigh themselves every day are more likely to make it! So, get on the scale and make yourself responsible.
  
  3. You are not running a marathon overnight. It's not happening. If you're heavy it takes time to get it off and there is NO magic pill. Move more, eat less. Not the BIG GOAL!!! You can't do it all today. If your main goal is thirty pounds, make a mini goal of five pounds. Workout! As hard as you can. If you have limitations and I have remitting repeating MS, so stow it on the excuses, you can still do it. I don't run on hot days. I bike, or swim. I run early in the morning and carry plenty of water for myself and my Siberian Husky!!!!
  
  Another tip!! get a buddy. It does not have to be a fluff ball. Someone is looking for a partner too and they're nice and normal and may be on Craiglsist. Don't go out onto a trail in the middle of nowhere the first time you meet them. Just have coffee and talk. Someone about your weight and stamina with your same goals. I found someone at church and I take my dog. We get a lot of people asking, "R u runnin with a wolf?" I don't know why the only people who ask are men in pickup trucks who are chewing tobacco, but I got to the point now where I say, Yes, I am running with a wolf. If someone is really that clueless.
  
  I've lost count. Create a goal. Maybe it's to walk in a mile version of a larger race. I knew, KNEW I had to be an Ironman. So, right before I turn fifty...Help, it's over a year and a half away, but I'm scared.
  
  No, you don't have to be as stupid as me. Just pick a goal. If you run, shave a few seconds off your mile. Join a walkers or cyclists group. You know I mean bicycle, right?
  
  The bottom line, five pounds at a time. Reward yourself with new shoes, or a cute outfit that does not show off the parts you're trying to get rid of.
  
  Even if you're naturally thin, EXERCISE! Why? Statistics show you will live longer, be healthier when you are old and even if you get off the bandwagon muscle memory will help you bounce back!!!! You can do this. Weight training, which means a couple of weights in your house, not a gym, is great. That can be done...Why am I writing this all down, when I can vlog it? DUH!! I won't show you. My floor needs to be vacummed. I will talk about it and you'll see I'm pretty much a pomeranian on Crack. This is going on my focus free, don't care who reads it, blog. So, no critiques. I'm working on my work blog and I'm working on a weightloss blog I'm about to start, for fun, called, "BIG FAT CHEATERS!!" My video shall explain all. LOL!
  
  Mayi, I would kill for an eliptical, but I have to get a bigger house first. I'm plugging away at getting the business open on the net.

  Great vid and I love how open and genuine you are with your readers. You have to make it a daily habit as everyone has said. It has to be as important as eating breakfast every day.
  
  If you can't get a dvd, youtube has tons of full length exercise vids, from yoga to samba, so there is no excuse. I also do it first thing in the morning or it won't get done, or if I couldn't I take breaks from work every 90 mins or so (Blacksburgbelle.com tip!) and do 10 mins of exercise to get revitalized and dump some stress.
  
  Know that exercise is not only crucial for us to stay fit and gorgeous, but also to get the fresh blood and oxygen to our brains so that we can continue to do all of that creative work that we do (marieforleo.com tip!).

  First thought, even before seeing today's Friday video: I need to watch your videos on Mondays for a boost to start the week right! =D
  
  I was very active when I was younger, a "tomboy" as some people have called me. However after college, and without PE and recess, I became less active. Going to the gym was so BOooOOOooRing for me! I hated lifting weights, running/cycling on a machine, etc.
  
  Fast forward a decade+ and now I'm in a routine of going to the gym about every other day. What changed? The TYPE of gym that my boyfriend and I go to. We're lucky and live a few blocks from this amazing members only club that has an amazing gym with a lap pool, squash courts, basketball court (that converts to volleyball), 2 rooms of weights and machines, classes, etc. The facilities and people at this gym have really made a difference for me! I get self-conscious when I work out because I sweat a lot, but I found "my" corner, a "secret" room, in this gym where there are usually no more than 3-4 people other than myself. Sometimes, I'm even in there alone!..and it has all that I need - a good range of free weights, treadmill, elliptical, machines, etc. Another thing that helps is that my boyfriend and I go together. Yes, I admit, I was about to not go to the gym yesterday (although it's about 4 blocks from us), but my boyfriend came home and said, "Let's go to the gym." I literally just walk to the gym and home with him - we don't even work out together!..but that's what I need, just someone to even walk to the gym to get me started!
  
  The other thing that coincided with us joining this wonderful gym was that I also stumbled upon the awesome & beautiful girls of Tone It Up! They are constantly coming up with new videos for a variety of different exercises, eating healthy, etc. The other thing I like is that they're geared more towards women and looking lean and healthy (vs. bulky when you watch videos for men). You can also subscribe to them and they'll send you new videos and motivations to your email. Check them out and I hope they'll inspire you too!
  (Tip: Some exercises take some getting used to, but once you get used to them, and see that you can do more reps/sets, it feels great!)

  Ladies + Gentz: Liz DiAlto's Tighter in 10 is actually an awesome kickstart for people who hate exercise for a few reasons: the workouts don't last longer than 35 minutes, and the results are fast, but healthy-so they see near instant results in 10 days (most people see results by Day 5 measurements, it's crazy) which gives them the motivation to keep going.   I just bought the zumba dvds and I'm going to start them on Monday......I love to put music on or videos from 'free on-demand' and boogie down so I figured I'd love zumba and I'll learn some new dance moves :).
  
  I love your videos.....and this one is so important.......like they say, move it or lose it......and I deal with an auto-immune issue and can't work out as intensely as I used to......sometimes I try, but then feel like crap.......it's taken me a while to accept this, but I'm coming to terms with it slowly :).

  That's really great but I have M.E. and therefore have difficulty doing anything after walking as it causes me a lot of pain and exhaustion. Do you have any tips for people stuck at home all day (not out of choice) who can't exercise due to disabilities?

  it's all very true. I do some yoga and Tango (I am not able to run or to swim up and down - sorry, but I can dance). After one intense dance I can't help smiling for 20 min. And the good thing about it -time for classes is fixed, because it's a group activity, so I don't have to fight with myself every time.

  Can I just say first, wow Mayi you have an amazing body! I've been feeling so blah lately & this advice couldn't have came at a better time. I let myself go for 3-4 years now & now that I'm single, I want to be back to my old self again.
  
  If you don't mind me asking you Mayi, how often & how long do you do each workout like treadmill, elliptical, billy blanks, etc.? I love to know what people do to get the results of being healthy & staying slim. Any advice would be great.

  Whenever I'm feeling like a lump on the couch I just throw on LMFAO's "I'm sexy and I know it" and I instantly start to feel the groove and juse like "Weekend at Bernies" I magically start to dance around the house. When I'm not feeling motivated enough to go to the gym I have this picture of Pamela Anderson with the most perfect butt and there I go... off to the gym! Thanks for your fun video!

  Great post! Exercise is so key to our bodies functioning properly. And unfortunately, for most of us anyway, exercise is one of the first things to go when we get busy or stressed, just when exercise would benefit us the most!

  OK. It's taken me a while to reply to this but I finally went out and checked all the exercise machines and found an elliptical trainer in my budget. It's magnetic and smaller than the others I saw so will fit nicely in my apartment.
  
  Here's the question... Mayi, how were you sure to buy your equipment and that you would use it and not turn into a coat hanger? Is it just because you're super motivated and know it actually works??
  
  I'm super motivated to get fit. I've been pinning and reading tons of stuff and I've also just found out I'm intolerant to quite a few foods - plus i stopped smoking in January. that plus my new diet is making me feel more energetic already... so WHY am i still wondering if i should buy the trainer or not. =/
