Are You Marketing in All The Sneaky Places?

Don't be fooled by the title. I don't mean "sneaky marketing" in a deceitful or malicious way. In fact, far from it. I mean marketing in a forthright smarty pants tactful fashion. The kind you should be doing to grow your business on Hulk steroids.

I'll get to that in a minute. First I want to talk about my obsession with Sir Mickey Mouse, who at the age of 8, supposedly, made me beg my parents for the Mickey-ears shaped ice cream sandwich bar. How clever was that? Bravo Walt Disney! Absolutely brilliant.

Right then + there I'm sure, I learned that marketing is everything we do + everywhere we look.

And so, today's video taps into some of my favorite outside the box places to market your brand that most people overlook. If you're curious hit play + sing along.

After watching here's what I would L-O-V-E you to do:

1. Give my dear friend Arturo de la Guardia the standing ovation for the cutest intro + finale animation in the Milky Way. I mean did you catch those Pixar-quality clips? Seriously wicked. Oh + if you're curious about the behind the scenes action that went into making it or would like an awesome animation of your very own, Arturo will be popping in very very soon for a guest post to share the whole scoop. Hold on tight.

2. Leave a comment below sharing your favorite "sneaky" spot to market your business, but I can't promise to keep it a secret (wink).

3. If you want to take things up a notch (or more like 100 notches), I seriously recommend getting your hands on April Bowles' Marketing for Creatives digital guide. I devoured my copy this week in spite of all the wedding madness that I've got going on, because it was insanely useful + filled with practical exercises I could literally implement in a hot second. Don't you love it when that happens?

And that's a wrap.

A tsunamic virtual hug to you for your contagious enthusiasm + out-of-the-park contribution in the comments + beyond. I'm so humbled by your infinite support over the weeks helping me spread the Friday Video Time love. A million thank you hugs don't suffice. I just wanted you to know that.

xo,

Mayi Carles

PS: I'm an affiliate for April's Marketing for Creatives digital guide, which means that if you buy from my link I make some money. You might also be curious to know I rarely, if ever, promote other people's products on the blog because I'm extremely peaky + filter everything that I'm not utterly nuts about + know could make a huge difference in your life + business. Your trust is too precious to me + I would never risk it by sending you to a gimmicky product just to make a few bucks. That's all I have to say about that. Phew! That feels better.

Seriously, I rarely watch videos but I love yours every Friday, so thanks for posting!!

The only way I can think of right now that I try to market my brand is by including something with all my orders that the customer can use in the future to be reminded of me - I make little matchbook notebooks with my logo stamped on them, or I include a pin-back button with a cute little phrase about knitting or yarn and my shop name around the edges. It helps them think of me whenever they see the item and it also lets them know that I appreciate them enough to include a little gift with purchase. :)

Ok..Your intro with the fairy dancing around..and your spontaneous, outrageous, cute and adorable self...combined makes me and I know others WANT to watch you more. As for your head/heart knowledge, you combine them very well! Don't stop. I learned alot too. I m going to put my own outrageous personality on video! Here's my website:

    love the new animation

great point and list of tips!

one thing that might be missing on many blogs - is more branding or selling of related things at the end of posts... because often we read through rss feeds and don't see the person's website with all the buttons and calls to action.

another pet peeve is when someone's twitter profile description is old or not filled out! scary! make sure your links work!

Alicia: Samples + business cards great tips Alicia. Thank for sharing!

Meagan: Aww thanks Meagan. Can't wait to bring Arturo on board for the backstage pass. Crossing my fingers it can be before my mini wedding sabbatical.

Mrs. Sparkman: Hehehehehe I'm still dancing. Happy to know I have a companion :)

Andreia + Nicola + Bridgett: Aww thanks for the animation love girls. A big thank you hug to you!

L'Erin: Like I told Meagan, I'm crossing my fingers it can be before my mini wedding sabbatical. So excited to reveal the process.

Jess: I'm blushing from head to toe girl hehehehe! Thank you! I'm actually loving your marketing strategy. It's very "sneaky" in all the best sense of the world. Brilliant to give a gift that people can actually use daily or frequently that remind them of you. You just gave me an idea for a follow up post. THANK YOU AGAIN you smarty pants genie :)

Oh my gawd! Love the cartoons! Soooooo cute! You've really done an amazing job of channeling your brand through everything you do.

I felt relieved to know that I'm actually already doing all of the things that you mentioned in your video ...exceeeept the last one which is the most important one in my opinion. I don't know how this happens, but almost every time I go out, I'm not wearing something from my collection. Ppl. will stop me and say how nice I look and then ask if I designed it. Ugh! Another potential marketing opportunity wasted. But now I'm on it to make sure that at least something I'm wearing is something that I designed.

Sending you positive energizing vibes for your big day! :)
